Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must have started in fewer than 60 percent of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. “Nicht,” when attached to a German phrase, means negation. When the United States ships Giants-Panthers to your country, all of the nichts apply.

Apologies, Deutschland. You unabashedly love American football, but you don’t deserve this. Not even Antarctic scientists deprived of live sports would attend such a matchup if it were played on their continent.

For those on U.S. soil who will enthusiastically roll out of bed to watch a game with only NFL Draft position implications, give yourself a reason to submit to four hours of viewing torture.

Jones — the much-lampooned Giants quarterback who’s coming off his finest fantasy performance of the season (174 passing yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, 57 rushing yards, one rushing TD) against division rival Washington — is an employable passer in a bye-heavy week. And no, that line wasn’t written with the assistance of Don Julio.

The matchup is spectacular. Carolina, which ranks No. 31 in pass EPA defense, has allowed 7.93 passing yards per attempt, 235.3 passing yards per game, 18 total touchdowns and the sixth-most fantasy points to signal callers. In total, five QBs have crossed the 20-point mark in fantasy against the Panthers.

Jones is a mishap waiting to happen, but his scoring duality in a premium matchup is difficult to ignore. Truthfully, a few secondary analytics offer encouragement.

Danny Dimes ranks No. 6 in total air yards, No. 1 in clean pocket accuracy and No. 17 in catchable pass rate. Also averaging 26.6 rushing yards per game, he’s a savvy option in deeper leagues.

On four occasions this season, Jones has achieved fantasy flame status. Given the stupendous matchup, he should earn all the schnapps.

Prost!

Russell Wilson, Steelers

Matchupat Commanders

Though oozing more cheese than a Cabot factory, Wilson has proven to be cheddar sharp in his first two starts with Pittsburgh. He tossed several errant passes early in his Week 7 encounter with the Jets, but once he settled in, the veteran QB established an immediate downfield rhythm, totaling well north of 20 fantasy points. His followup against the Giants was a statistical step back, but his 278-1-0 line accumulated was nothing to scoff at. His No. 40 standing in adjusted completion percentage continues to raise long-term questions, but his 10.0 aDOT — the third-highest among qualifying QBs — says otherwise. When he unleashed trademark moon balls, George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth and even Calvin Austin made timely plays. Clashing with Washington in the nation’s capital this week and coming fresh off the bye, Wilson is a dark-horse QB1 candidate in 12-team leagues. The Commanders have shown some improvement defending the pass, but Dan Quinn’s defense still ranks No. 26 in drop-back success rate D. Overall, Washington has allowed 7.43 passing yards per attempt, 255.8 passing yards per game and 15 total TDs to QBs. Also, five QBs have scored at least 18 fantasy points against it. In a possible sneaky shootout, Wilson channels Mr. Unlimited.

Fearless Forecast: 265 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, 8 rushing yards, 21.1 fantasy points

Season record: 10-7
