Primetime NFL games bring in the numbers -- and the bets. In an attempt to boost gamer bankrolls, this only occasionally profitable bettor will attempt to stack greenbacks under the lights. As always, fade or follow -- that’s up to you.
The Pick: Jordan Love 15+ rush yards at Steelers (+104, DraftKings)
Low-budget horror flicks are always all the rage during the Halloween season. Viewers looking for a good fright are sucked into tales typically featuring mythical demons or in-the-flesh monsters who wield sharpened objects in a quest to quench their inner bloodthirst. Surely a Sydney Sweeney doppelganger will attempt to run for cover only to meet her eventual demise.
It’s predictable.
Sunday night in the Aaron Rodgers Bowl, we can only hope his across-the-field counterpart experiences a fear-inspired adrenaline rush as a sack-motivated TJ Watt breathes down his neck.
Whether in fantasy or betting circles, Love’s rising run tendency has largely gone underreported. No, he hasn’t suddenly become Michael Vick 2.0, but whether on designed or advantageous scrambles, the Green Bay QB has steadily churned the wheels. On the season, he’s averaged a laudable 4.6 yards per carry, averaging 4.0 rush attempts per game. Really shifting into high gear the last four contests, he’s scurried for at least 18 rush yards in each.
Pittsburgh is one of the best pocket penetrating Ds in the league. This season, the Steelers check in at No. 6 in pocket pressure%, dialing up the heat on 25.3% of opponent dropbacks. Unsurprisingly, passers are netting 18.0 rush yards per game against them. Two signal callers -- Justin Fields and Drake Maye -- dashed for considerable ground gains against them.
Naturally, the spotlight-craving Rodgers will understandably earn gamers’ attention in various markets. However, his adversary could kill it in the category above.
Flush him with a sharpened axe, Watt.
