The pick — Utah-Rangers OVER 6 total goals (-110, BetMGM)

The Utah Hockey Club has been a wagon to start the year.

The former Coyotes of Arizona have started the season 2-0 with a dominating 5-2 home win against Chicago in its season opener and a gutsy 5-4 road comeback victory against the Islanders in overtime. Now Utah squares off with the other team in the Big Apple who opened its season by beating the Penguins 6-0 in Pittsburgh.

Dylan Guenther has been a huge reason for Utah’s early success, scoring four goals in the two games. Expect him to fire away early. With the streak he is on, Guenther is a good value at +245 for an anytime goal.

However, the play in this game is the over on total goals. Utah has gone over six goals twice, and the Rangers hit this number on the nose in their first contest.

I don’t expect another shutout on New York’s end, and Utah’s goaltender situation is meh at best. BetAlytics has this contest projected at 6.44 goals, which is over the mark, and at -110, that feels like great value.

Bonus pick — Connor Bedard OVER 2.5 shots on goal at Edmonton (-145, BetMGM)

I’m going to ride this prop again, especially after Bedard’s last game against Winnipeg in which he only registered one shot on goal.

With BetAlytics projecting the Blackhawks star for 3.25 shots on goal against an Oilers team that’s not as stingy as the Jets, it feels like another big fire-fest for Bedard.

Season record: 2-2, +0.40 units
