It’s time. I need to finally admit that I am, at this moment, George Costanza.
Every instinct of mine on Caitlin Clark lines has been wrong. So if every gut feeling is wrong, then the opposite MUST be correct.
Looking at Clark’s game log, I’d typically take the over for this line. She’s been struggling to shoot the ball accurately. Normally, I would see this and think that maybe I’m getting a good number on her point total.
But right now, I’m George Costanza. I want the complete opposite of tuna on toast.
Let's keep in mind that Clark is still a rookie. She's experiencing some growing pains. She was on a week-long West Coast trip and will face the Sparks on Tuesday for the second time in five days. Los Angeles, with its seventh-ranked defense, already has strategies in place to contain Clark, having limited her to 11 points in last Friday’s 78-73 Fever victory.
Over her last three games, the No. 1 overall pick is shooting 31.6% from the floor. She’s in a slump that will take some time to escape. With all of my instincts saying “over,” I must adhere to The Costanza Rule and go under.
At this point, it can’t get much worse than an 0-3 start!
