Oilers vs. Stars Game 1 prediction and player prop

Here are the best bets for Game 1 of Edmonton vs. Dallas in the Western Conference final.

Oilers ML at Stars (+110, BetMGM)

Brandon Velaski — I know what you’re thinking. The Stars fan picking against his team? He has to be using the reverse jinx. Well, with our track record, that could be the case, but the reasoning behind this wager is solid and simple. Peter DeBoer hasn’t won a Game 1 with Dallas in his two seasons as head coach. He’s 0-for-5. Also, DeBoer-coached teams have lost eight of their last nine series openers. So that’s the logic.

Connor McDavid OVER 3.5 shots on goal (+120, BetMGM)

Lou Saccomando — McDavid hit this over in two of Edmonton's three regular-season games against the Stars this season. He only has two goals in the playoffs, but in order for the Oilers to pull off the series upset against Dallas, he will have to score instead of facilitate. I expect McDavid to hit this over in Game 1 and be aggressive throughout the Western Conference final.

NHL postseason record: 5-17, -13.85 units
