The hoopla, hysteria and general hype around the NFL Draft is unrivaled. Thursday’s first round will be filled with the usual pomp and circumstance with stylish suits, neck-draped flashy bling, main-stage struts, Roger Goodell bro hugs and lifelong dreams realized. However, selfish gamers only care about one thing — Where does the rookie rank in the fantasy pecking order? Here’s instant analysis of Harrison in the Cardinals offense.
No. 4 overall pick — Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Arizona Cardinals
The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. When it comes to the younger Harrison, whose father was a fantasy legend, it’s a phrase that unequivocally applies.
Arguably THE most talented player regardless of position in this year’s draft class, Harrison is set to pay an instant dividend as a WR2, at a minimum, in 12-team PPR formats. His route running, footwork, separation skills, YAC and competitive spirit are nearly unparalleled.
Equipped with the physical profile (6-foot-3, 209 pounds), catch radius and reliable hands to intimidate cornerbacks, Harrison is an instant high-volume pass catcher likely to entice 120-140 targets in Year 1. Whether on deep routes, over-the-middle slants or shallow crosses, he simply produces.
One of the college game’s best at contested catches last season, Harrison is entirely capable of being this year’s Puka Nacua. If the sinister injury imp doesn’t bite, an 80-1100-7 line is acquired this fall. And that's probably underselling it.
