Happy first birthday: The Gaming Juice turns 1

Deck the halls with all the over-the-top glitzy gold decorations money can buy, #TeamHuevos.

The goal: Make it more obscene than the Fort Knox watch Tom Brady strapped to his wrist on Super Bowl Sunday.

Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of The Gaming Juice. It’s indeed a golden celebration.

When the site officially debuted on Feb. 15, 2024, the aim was to covet writing. With media companies shedding quality voices for cheap, robotic dreck, it felt like compelling gaming content was quickly going the way of the dodo. As a result, we adopted a mission to provide fresh, free, informative, entertaining, transparent and sports-diverse perspectives to the masses — all with accessibility and community top of mind.

As our welcome note outlined, JACKED best described our excitement.

A year in, our bootstrapped operation has accomplished more in its inaugural campaign than many well-staffed and copiously funded sites did over the same time frame.

We produced wall-to-wall fantasy football coverage and presented various betting angles across a multitude of sports — NFL, college basketball, college football, NBA, MLB, NHL, boxing, golf tennis, WNBA and the Olympics. All pieces were meticulously crafted with information, opinion, humor, transparency and brevity.

Most importantly, readers weren't required to pay a single cent. Honestly, it’s the way it should be.

Recently, we were graciously recognized for a pair of Fantasy Sports Writers Association nominations — Best Radio Show (BetMGM Tonight) and College Sports Writer of the Year. Grateful doesn't do it justice.

Our existence wouldn’t be possible without our partner, BoomPress, which built a clean, easy-to-navigate, versatile platform to satisfy our various needs. Thank you for your stewardship, BoomPress team.

Our editorial staff also worked tooth and nail on whatever content initiatives interested them — all gratis. Thank you, Ben Wittenstein, Nate Jacobson, Nate Lundy, Brandon Velaski and others for your invaluable contributions.

Most importantly, no site can exist without a healthy behind-the-scenes spine. That’s our Editor-in-Chief Joe Lago. Not only is he a wizard with the written word, but he’s also inarguably the finest editor this scribe has ever had. His dedication, creativity and gentle editorial touch is what makes The Gaming Juice flow.

Finally, THANK YOU loyal readers, spreadsheet followers, podcast listeners and general consumers. Your engagement is our driving force and why we exist.

Our sights are set on future riches. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved and the powerhouse partnerships we’ve established with The Athletic and Audacy.

As others in the gaming industry shadily continue the grift, The Gaming Juice remains motivated to provide the masses with the top-shelf FREE content they desire in the fantasy and betting spaces.

With a solid foundation poured, here’s to further building in Year 2.
