The Avalanche aren’t exactly on a roll. They had lost three of four games before beating a subpar Buffalo unit 5-4 on Tuesday.
Colorado is the epitome of streakiness this season, and right now it is on the wrong side of that trend. Despite an uptick in wins and offense after an unconventional start, the Avs still rank ninth-worst in the NHL in goal differential at -11.
Conversely, Carolina ranks top-six in goal differential (+19) and is No. 2 in expected goals percentage. The Hurricanes also will be playing at home in the Lenovo Center, where they are 9-3 this season.
Give me the Canes to win in regulation. I wouldn’t be shocked if they cover the puck line of -1.5 at +165.
