Bo Horvat OVER 2.5 shots on goal at Hurricanes (-130, BetMGM)

Brandon Velaski — Things aren’t going well for us this postseason, so I’m going to go with my gut more than trends for these picks. Horvat has gone over this number in two of the series’ four games, but the Islanders, who trail 3-1, are desperate to stay alive. They’ll shoot as many pucks on net as they can muster.

Bruins -1.5 vs. Maple Leafs (+155, BetMGM)

Lou Saccomando — Auston Matthews’ status is unclear because of an undisclosed illness. William Nylander screamed at Mitch Marner on the bench in Game 4, saying “This ain’t junior hockey.” Yes, the Maple Leafs have reached code red. Could they rally and use this turmoil as motivation? Maybe. But I’m smarter than that. And I realize Boston has won the last six playoff series against Toronto. The Bruins score early and win 4-1 to perhaps begin the Leafs breakup this offseason.

Nathan MacKinnon OVER 4.5 shots on goal at Jets (-120, BetMGM)

Brandon Velaski — Has he missed this mark in three of the four games this series? He sure has. Am I hammering it because this was an auto bet all 2023 postseason and during the regular season? I sure am. Colorado can close out Winnipeg, and Nate will be flying to make sure they do.

Canucks ML vs. Predators (-120, BetMGM)

Lou Saccomando — The Canucks arguably had the craziest win of the playoffs on Sunday in Nashville, when they came back from a 3-1 deficit to shock the Predators 4-3 in overtime. The life was sucked out of the Preds after Colton Sissons missed an empty-net goal attempt and Vancouver took advantage. Who knows who will be in net for the Canucks? However, it hasn’t mattered because three different goaltenders have a win in the series. Vancouver will close it out Tuesday at home.

NHL postseason record: 1-7, -6.75 units
