The pick — Caitlin Clark OVER 19.5 points vs. Liberty (-114, FanDuel)

They say patience is a virtue.

After Caitlin Clark’s WNBA debut resulted in her hitting the under on her points prop, the virtuous can now adjust to the market and cash in on the over.

Let’s be honest: Clark had a bad first game in the Indiana Fever’s 92-71 season-opening loss at the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick scored a team-high 20 points, but she shot 33.3% from the field, logged four fouls and didn’t grab a rebound.

Her 4-for-11 shooting on three-pointers was solid, but she can do better. And she’ll improve Thursday when the Fever face the New York Liberty in Indianapolis.

Clark had first-game jitters and experienced the speed of the league in a contest that counts. Now she’ll play in a game with a total (172.5) that’s six points higher than her first (166.5).

The market expects some scoring, and I believe a lot of the Fever’s offense will come from Clark. She’ll get her 15-plus shots and continue to get to the free-throw line (she went 6-for-6 on Tuesday) against a Liberty team that committed 20 fouls in their opener.

Clark didn’t have an explosive night in her debut. Let’s use time to our advantage and bet that she detonates in her home debut.
